First of all many thanks to all those who answered my queries a few weeks ago. The lens adapter finally arrived, bought from HKDCPLUS on eBay (http://stores.ebay.co.uk/HKDCPLUS) for £3.99 plus £3.00 for P&P. It's made from aluminium and identical to the Canon item LA-DC52G so it fits the A570 and A590 PowerShot cameras. With the aid of a homemade adapter (plastic milk bottle top !) I managed a few decent hand-held shots in recent weeks (Pics A & B) but I was looking for something a little more stable which didn't involve removing the rubber ring around the eyepiece of the Zeiss zoom lens. As luck would have it I came across a piece of PVC pipe where I work and it's internal diameter was the same as the outside diameter of the Zeiss lens so it fite perfectly (pic 1). I cut a few centimetres off the pipe, wrapped some insulating tape around the end of the lens adapter to bring it's outside diameter to the required size (pic 2), attached it to the lens adapter by means of more tape and now the whole set-up is perfect for me (pic 3 & 4). I had to wrap some more tape around the lower part of the eyepiece ring as it's slightly narrower than the top part so now the adapter slides onto the eyepiece and stays in place without moving and is perfectly aligned each time (pic 5). The whole thing cost less than £7 (less than 10 euros) and took about an hour or two to make. Eugene PS: I think there's a limit to the number of attachments per post so I'll send some pics separately in another message.
