Career in birding holidays: how? (1 Viewer)

Well-known member
I am from Hong Kong and got my degree in Maths and Philosophy from Oxford last year. Sadly I bungled my third-year exams, so my academic career (such as it was) is on hold.

A job in banking or tech or whatnot wouldn't give me any pleasure. My obsession is with birding.

The thought of a career in wildlife holidays has crossed my mind. That's far more interesting.

How do I "get my start", as it were? How does one get recognised as having the right skills for it?

I can’t give you a precise answer but I would imagine that you might have to start by taking a job in the office of an appropriate travel company and from there establish some birding credentials.
Look up the U.K. based wildlife/birding tour operators and get in touch direct and ask the same question. People generally give "credit" for a proactive approach.

Good Luck
