Carolina Wren Nesting/Incubation (1 Viewer)

I have a Caroilna Wren nesting in a planter on my deck which can get busy with my kids playing outside as the weather warms up and they are out of school. They have laid one egg and I haven't seen them since its been around 36hrs. Should I be worried they abandoned their egg due to my kids playing outside nearby? If I moved planter to a nearby quiet location would they find it?

As to any nesting birds they are usually frightened off by any activity around the nest so It might me worth a try moving the planter to a more isolated area.

I moved it to a quieter location, Unfortunately when I checked it this morning the nest was destroyed and no sign of the egg. I feel like a failure. 😔

You are not a failure. Nature is raw at times but it is nature non the less Carolina!

I believe the same bird is back, they built in another planter this time. I didn't move it, I figure she picked the spot she must be ok with it. She's brooding 4 eggs and doing great. She doesn't even seem to mind when we are outside so long as nobody touches the planter. I put a security camera on her to monitor her coming/going and reactions to noise/activity. She's quite resilient!
