Caspian Gull confirmation UK (1 Viewer)

GMS

Well-known member
Pretty sure this is a 1st winter Caspian Gull but would appreciate confirmation.
Good features are
  1. Head colour and profile
  2. Nice big dark tailband and sparsely marked/well contrasting upper tail (not properly visible on photos)
  3. Distinct hindneck marking
  4. Double pale 'wingbar'
Not sure about the underwing colour colour. It's pale and the light was rubbish but is this within variation?
Seen today in the UK.
