I found a Grecian Shoemaker butterfly on my front door in Primrose Hill, London. Escaped from London Zoo do you think? Or a stowaway in someone's luggage?

It's certainly one the Zoo has on it's species list.
On Bank Holiday Monday there was a Common Crow butterfly (Euploea core) at the London Wetland Cente - also probably an escape from the Zoo.

Ah yes, I see they had four of them at their January stock take. So that's clearly where it was from. Unfortunately my efforts to keep it alive failed, and it expired on Sunday. Hopefully they bred since January, and this doesn't mean that the zoo is now down to just three of them.
