ZEISS. Discover the fascinating world of birds, and win a birding trip to Columbia

Cbc (1 Viewer)

Today I took part in my first (!) CBC. It was a wonderful experience. My partner and I tallied 46 species in five hours, covering 5.7 miles on foot. Out of the 46 a few stood out, in order of appearance:

Forster's Tern: usually far from here this time of year, considered casual in winter.
Northern Pintail: shovelers are usually found instead here.
Marsh Wren: very picky about their habitat, so we were lucky to find them.
Hairy Woodpecker: irrupt out onto the barrier beaches sometimes.

In between thousands of all scoter species, and all of the expected passerines amused us, while a mated Peregrine pair kept them amused.

:-O

Happy New Year everybirdy!
