I was pretty excited today as my new Regal spotting scope came to my doorstep. I would like to give what feedback that I can right now, as I am doing some back door field testing on a pretty dark and dreary day here in Michigan. I really am looking foreward to a sunny day test, along with a star test. FWIW, I am reporting back to any who might be considering this scope, as there is very little out there being reported on this particular model. The scope itself appears to be very well made and solid. If one is looking for a Porche style scope body, forget it. Regal's is nice, and I will compare this one to a Ford or GM. The 22-67x zoom eye piece seems very large and is easy to view through, and comes with a nice screw on anodized aluminum cap, along with a pop off objective cover. This scope is relatively big, but doesn't appear to be any bigger or heavier than the 100mm Pentax spotter. Performance: I am very encouraged thus far. The field of view is bright and sharp from edge to edge, especially considering what testing I did in a late afternoon, overcast day. No color fringing at all against the snow or otherwise. The scope was bright throughout all of the 22-67x range, showing only a slight drop off within the last 10x of zoom range. As far as resolution-- We have a ridge line across the river with Red Oak trees, and I was able to resolve all of the twigs/buds against an overcast sky at 700+ yards (as per Lieca Rangefinder)--I'm talking about twigs no more than 1/8" diameter with buds being visable. As much as I like to say that I like this scope so far, I wish I had some more high end scopes to compare to as an ultimate comparison. The best scope that I could set up for side by side comparison was my Bushnell Elite 15-45x60mm spotter. This scope showed a very small amout of color fringing against the snow and could not give same resolution with the Oak twigs as the Regal. The smallest extensions of the twigs could not really be resolved. Also, light drops off pretty fast after 30x to 45x. No surpises here really. The Regals colors appear very true to life, but still, the ultimate test will come on a sunny day. Well, I hope what I have shared thus far will help for some. I would really like to have others chime in here and give thier own opinions on my 700 yard test, as compared to what thier own scopes might be capable of. Bill
