Think this is one of the offspring of Pale Male, the well known Red Tailed Hawk. (You can see the belly band between the legs.)
The three fledglings have had a rough time this year, because of their diet. Rats abound in Central Park and are susceptible to various anti coagulant poisons. Unfortunately, the young hawks catch and eat the worst hit.
Of the three fledglings this year, one is known dead, one has gone missing, but was in distress the night before and the last one went through rehabilitation and is currently hanging around the Guggenheim.
