Thanks Boom.

The Hale referred to is Hale village near Liverpool. Hale near Altrincham is just outside the current Cheshire county boundary i.e. its in Greater Manchester, although it was within the old pre 1973 Cheshire boundary.

Thanks a lot-i lived in Hale Village until this year - to confuse matters it has a Liverpool postcode although it is classed as Cheshire- just wanted to double check as i see Pickerings Pasture mentioned which is just over the other side of Hale Marsh-indeed the hide there gives excellent views of the marsh.
Some great records there-thanks for the updates

The current postcode system was started in 1974, so I'm assuming the counties used were the vice counties.

Yellow-browed Warbler caught at Bidston this morning and a frustrating morning at Red Rocks, when neither the bird that sounded like a Pechora Pipit or the bird that sounded like a Duksy Warbler gave themselves up.

4 Bramblings and 7 Redpolls were the best of the overhead

A nice couple of hours this morning on the beach at Hoylake.
3 Grey Plover, 1 Peregrine landed on the beach. Lots of the usual Dunlin, Knot, Redshank and Oystercatcher.
Parkgate: 1 Great White Egret, that finally emerged after a biblical hail storm. 150+ Pink Footed Geese.
BMW: 3 Whooper Swans.

Some pictures loaded onto my blog now, with more to come when I have been through them.

Adam your very brave - you could get shot on the beach around those parts ;)

High Tide at Parkgate?

Predicted tide for Tuesday 16th is for 9.9m at 1209hrs and for Wednesday 17th 10m at 1251hrs (times are for Liverpool, actual high tide at Parkgate around 20 to 30+ minutes later).
Weather conditions - strong winds and low pressure - means it is looking like its going to be a big tide tomorrow, I would be very surpised even it doesn't completely cover the marsh right along the prom at Parkgate, and might well do on Wedenesday as well. I would advise getting there at least an hour before the times shown.
