Saw my first swallow of the year earlier on today at my local patch. GC-Grebes starting to build nests too, which was good to see. Not much else other than unidentified white breasted soaring raptor and usual assortment of parkland ducks.
Also saw my first singing Chiffchaff of the year at the weekend (OK it was in Holland but still counts!).

Where abouts along the lane were they? By lane i'm assuming you mean the lane running past the feeding area at the south end.

Three pairs of Grebes there now. One female has been sitting for a couple of days now. Most probably the raptor was a Buzzard. Its now the commonest raptor I see in the area.

Yippee!---Summer has arrived[possibly]---Swallows and martins not ventured in to Knutsford yet.On the plus side,my garden still overun with Reed Buntings .A male Bull finch and Nuthatch joined the throng this morning. Got back from Norfolk[Titchwell] yesterday and at dusk a lesser spotted Woodpecker was on the fat balls.[are they normal garden visitors?] I had one a long time ago but assumed that was a rare one off thing.

Yes,I mean the lane that continues from where they feed the ducks.Red legs have been in the Siddington area for years ,but no particular area seems to be regular for them. The last couple of times 2 were seen either side of that lane, but none of the fields look that great for them being just grassed over.I just seem to see them by chance from the lanes in the area.

I failed to find it in the 12k or so large Gulls off Hoylake. No Icelands today either. Two close in Velvet Scoter were nice though - they are still visible if not strictly IDable! There must have been 3 Icelands yesterday - as both Hoylake birds were 1st summs

One of my mates thinks he saw a willow tit at the feeders at Risley Moss. Knowing there was some discussion on here recently over the Marsh and Willow tits in Cheshire I wondered if anyone knows which species it was likely to be?

Cheers

Willow far more likely.

Just (10:15 - 10:25) had an OSPREY fly right over my patch - heading north - look out Pennington Flash.

As Halftwo says Willow is the more likely however both species are present on the site. I spoke to a ranger some time back on this very issue and they had no idea Marsh Tit was there until the ringers caught one of the "willow" tits.

We were at Pennington today, didn't see Osprey or hear anybody talking about it, oh well.
