Update - 5 Purple Sandpipers at New Brighton Marine Lake; Hen Harrier at Parkgate Marsh

A claim from this morning of two Shorelarks at West Kirby towards Little Eye. These are a real rarity in Cheshire and Wirral.( and a description species !) I cant remember if we have had any in the last few years, but there was a run of birds from 1995 to 1998. Must be on a few wanted lists for Cheshire and Wirral.
Cheers

Hugh

The Shore Lark were feeding on the tideline at West Kirby - between the end of the prom and the start of the saltmarsh - just after first light ( I'd been down hoping for the Avocet ). They flew off towards Little Eye, so if anyones going over to Hilbre this morning it will be worth keeping an eye out. Possibly the same birds as on 6th.

Thank you for the information you put on and about Parkgate. Called in yesterday and saw the female hen harrier - never seen a female hen harrier before. Had a very good view of it quartering the marshes. Was very impressive.
