Chile, Concepcion area RFI (1 Viewer)

Hi all,
I’m off to Chile next month and have a few spare days in the between Talca and Concepcion.

It’s my second visit to this area so I have relatively few potential lifers. Chestnut-throated Huet-huet is a big one so will visit Termss de Chilean and/or Altos de Lircay.

However, there’s also a constellation of wetlands in the Concepcion/Talcahuano area with some good potential for ticks.

eBird info for this area is excellent, but by its nature there’s not a lot of detail on site access and layout, where to look at for specific species etc. Google maps is great but only goes so far.

I wonder if anyone has any experience of the sites in this area, or has any local Chilean contacts who might be able to help?

Cheers,
James

I was at Altos de Lircay many years ago so no current info. At that time, the entry into the park started relatively late in the morning, so if you can, do camp inside the park (probably only tent camping possible?).

Hi Niels,
Sorry I missed this at the time, yes Altos de Lircay is still impossible to get into early in the morning, which is a crying shame really. Camping is off the table as an option. I have some 24hr sites for CTHH at termas de chillan and also just outside the park gates at Altos de lircay
Cheers
James
