The language thing is a bitch, but getting around on the trains and buses is easy-peasy if you get someone at where-ever you're staying (assuming they speak English) to write down the place names in Chinese characters. I would usually work out where I was going from, say, Chengdu, and get the whole next lot of place names written down all at once in case I couldn't find someone in between who could do it for me. And then once you're at your destination, who needs English right?And everyone there really is super-friendly.</blockquote>
