New try - color chart So I layouted the images on the background of the neutral grey obtained from the white balanced image. Of course all images - including the neutral grey - were darkened by the same amount, but I kept them a bit lighter than in the first try. I guess about one F-stop above middle grey. Quite an eyeopener, so thanks to Henry and the others suggesting this procedure. Again, the whole argument and my suggestions and discussion is here: http://www.greatestbinoculars.com/allpages/reviews/shootouts/shootoutpremier8x42s/8x42shootout.html Even my reference, the Habicht 8x30, has a slight green colour cast, which also explains to me why the HT 8x42 looks still neutral to me - it is green, but still reasonably close to the Habicht. The SF is really bright and high intensity green, corresponding with the glowing purple coatings. The little 8x32 Ultravid HD Plus - it had immediately astounded me by looking even sharper and contrastier than its awesome brother, the 8x42, but I had not realized how much colder the image is. I probably need to confirm this again, maybe they just want the little one to be as bright as possible? Anyway, the view is amazing, although much more difficult than the 8x42. So here is the chart:
