With the old pager reading directions in the dark was no problem. With the X3 the back light only seems to work on new messages.Finally having had it a while I would say the X3 is great for serious twitchers who will us the ability to change channel regularly but if you just want to knew what's going on locally stick with the old boy as it's easier to use.</blockquote>
