I'd like to split the cost of some guided birding for a day near Chiang Mai and or 1-2 days near Bangkok. Are there other ways to find people? Specifically Chiang Mai all day November 27 and/or Bangkok December 11 and/or 12? I've found friends for a couple of past birding trips in Central America but not this time, and I'd love to find 1-3 others to split the costs via one of the two birding tour companies I found or another that reduces the cost, and shares the enjoyment!...In the future I'd love a way to find people to do the same when I am traveling with non-birders! Thanks in advance...traveling from California, hablo espanol et un peu de francais aussi! Vivienne

Are you still looking for a companion?
My plans have changed so I won't be in Thailand this year, ie 2024. I could possibly plan something there with some time for birding sharing a guide, then time with my son in Northern Thailand afterwards or before...month of February 2025. Let me know if you have ideas for a tour or private guide?

Great idea, Vivienne! Definitely try Facebook groups related to birding in Thailand – people often look for companions there. Alternatively, check travel forums like Lonely Planet’s Thorntree, where enthusiasts post similar requests. You could also contact local guides, who might connect you with other clients.

I’ve looked for birding buddies in Vietnam before, and FB groups worked wonders. In Thailand, there’s also the Bird Conservation Society of Thailand, which sometimes organizes group trips. It’s awesome that you speak multiple languages – it’ll definitely help! Good luck, and let us know how it goes.
