Cuckoo calling and showing very well this morning behind bird hide also startled a sounding very much like a goshawk my first sighting very noisy as it flew off on canal path just up from canal bridge before meadow circled a few times in meadow before crows chased it way

Only 21 birds this evening, some birds making less calls ie Chaffinch, pheasant, rook, also no mallard around.
Highlights Greenfinch, Cettis, Morhen and some fine singing from Song thrush

Only 19 birds this evening haven't had mallard or Morhen along the stretch of canal for a few weeks now?? Highlights cettis calling from Salwarpe river area east end.

At least 8 Common Spotted Orchids this afternoon in the area we cleared in the winter. Glad to see it was worthwhile. Also plenty of big clumps of Ragged Robin. Also a Red Kite circling high above

26 bird's this evening, few bird's seen for a while, Sedge warbler, grey heron,Collard Dove, first flock of Starlings about 30 bird's in a tree.
Baby chinook over and a large fire out towards Hampton Lovett.
Noticed someone beat me to cutting back the blackberry, nice one.

26 birds this evening watched magpies hassling a small Buzzard until mom turned up, grey wagtail fly catching. Brightest small red butterfly possibly with black and white trim, near the bridge too.

Only 24 birds this evening back to the average, highlights red legged Partridge this time calling in the Maze Maize field, goldcrest close to home along train embankment finally mallard flew over home.

LOOKING FOR MALLARD, took a walk into town along the canal, 15 birds highlights Blackcap, Lesser whitethroat, goldcrest, 5 Morhen.
As for mallards 17 in total still not many for that area. Mute swans disappeared too could be up towards the marina.
