In addition, there are a number of species which have been recorded in the area before 2013. These include: Corncrake (2 records in 1930's), Greenshank (1960's), Turtle Dove, Hoopoe (April 2012), Dipper (1950's), Nightingale, Black Redstart (March 2003), Tree Sparrow (1970's) and Corn Bunting (1970's).
 
The Stonechats were on the grassy bank beetween Chawson Lane allotments and Copcut Rise this morning. They were along Copcut Lane yesterday.

6+ Redpolls in birches near Ladywood this morning plus a few flyovers elsewhere. A couple of Siskin flyovers also.

2 Male Blackcaps at Ladywood.

A decent sized flock of Meadow Pipits at Porter's Mill.

Water Rails near Mildenham and in Coney Meadow.

Cetti's Warbler Coney Meadow.

A good Starling murmuration (possibly 6000 or more).

Tawny Owl and 3 Snipe at dusk.
 
A short walk this morning:

Flock of Siskins in alders viewed from Gorsey bank
 
Grey partridge in the brassica field west of Gardeners Grove. Unmistakable call as I walked along the A4133, half a dozen or more scattered and flew low as I sneaked in for a look. 13 golden plover still in the field north of the main road.
 
A Peregrine attacked a Buzzard several times - between Salwarpe and Ladywood.
Male an female Blackcaps in the hedge along the canal there.
Male Stonechat on the dung heaps along Copcut Lane.
Raven over.
Grey Wagtails
Meadow Pipits
2 Skylarks
Winter Thrushes and Mistle Thrushes
Coal Tits
Cormorant
 
A flock of 50+ Skylarks in the field opposite Fairview today was notable.
Both male and female Stonechats present by the dung heaps.
6+ Redpolls, Chaffinches and Meadow Pipits also. Redwings, Fieldfares and Mistle Thrushes.

morning short walk highlight Raven, afternoon walk highlights Snipe flying out of reed bed in daylight may of been guy shooting at Pheasant a few fields away. Grey Wagtail. Small Buzzard hunting along canal tow path

exercise walk took in 43 birds today.2 new for the month/year Peregrine (same one as DW), plus Kingfisher.
(Peregrine so big still identifiable from 1/2 mile away)
