Coney Meadow and Adjoining Areas (5 Viewers)

Wheatear perched on hedge viewed from bridleway just north west of Salwarpe village - probably disturbed off the fields by shooting going on nearby.

Yellowhammer and Kestrel also nearby. Still good numbers of Swallows and House Martins.

Whinchat still present on my walk back.

A Wheatear perched on a metal gate between Salwarpe and Ladywood this morning - possibly the same bird around the green barn later on.

Little Egret at Porter's Mill.

Female type Redstart in hedge between Tapenhall and Porter's Mill

A Sand Martin with a flock of Swallows over near Tapenhall.

Singing Cetti's Warblers at Coney Meadow and near Tapenhall.

A Spotted Flycatcher in hedges and dead trees along the bridleway between Salwarpe and High Park this morning.

Wheatear still near the green barn - this area has definitely been the hot spot for this species so far this autumn.

3 Meadow Pipits over.

A definite autumn feel today - with viz mig of hirundines and Meadow Pipits - passing over in good numbers.

Easily treble figures of Meadow Pipits - with several flocks of 20 or more plus lots of smaller ones.

Large gatherings of hirundines in several places - one flock passing through near Gardner's Grove containing at least 3 Sand Martins.

10 Siskins overhead near Gardner's Grove - the fields in this area also produced:

16 Grey Partridges

4+ Yellowhammers near Moat Farm
2 Ravens between Salwarpe and Ladywood
2 Kestrels

Short walk as far as the green barn and back this morning produced:

Peregrine with prey - looked like a Jay

Yesterday evening a pre-roost gathering of c100 Swallows and 3 or 4 Sand Martins.
Male and female Tawny Owls calling
 
11 Wigeon and 35 Greylags just flew over near High Park then headed south. Possibly came from Westwood.

Not much else so far - 1 Common Whitethroat, Reed Warbler and a few Meadow Pipits.
 
Nice views of a Hobby this morning over near New Mill.

Kingfisher near Salwarpe on Saturday
4+ Yellowhammers near Salwarpe
A Muntjac in Coney Meadow on Friday
 
A pair of Stonechats in 'wildlife crop' just north of Salwarpe village this morning.
A late Spotted Flycatcher in hedge towards High Park.
6+ Yellowhammers in the area.
Swallow through.
Skylarks
2 Sparrowhawks
 
A Whinchat along the fence-line between Salwarpe and Ladywood - a good late date for this species.
Another male Stonechat near the green barn
Several Swallows and lots of Meadow Pipits and Linnets in the area.
House Martin over
