After spending most of the day on site yesterday we spoke to a lot of local people. We spoke to the person who found the bird on Monday and reported it to the National Trust warden. He gave a very good description of the bird. (Although this person is not a "birder" he is spends a lot of time out in the countryside and seemed to now a lot about the local birdlife).

The local farmers noted that the bird was present in the area throught this week and one said the bird was present on Wednesday eating a (Herring) Gull.

A good place to start looking would be at the National Trust Car Park at Carnewas or in the layby between here and Park Head.

Thank you Derek for your efforts and feedback. Appreciated even tho it was negative yesterday regards the Gyr.

Did you notice (despite the signs to keep out of the fields at this time of year) the two birders systematically quartering the set-aside field in an attempt to flush something?

As always there are birders who follow the country code and show excellent field craft, then there are the other sort who think walking through crops planted for a locally threaten species to be ok.
I bet they saw no more than we did, because they were busy making sure we did not copy them.

I was by no means the only person who took your comment "the wrong way". It was crass. As I have remarked before, subtlety is not your strong point.

My apology wasn't intended for you. If I feel that I want to apologise to other readers of this thread, then I will.

And having a sense of humour is not yours.

I have heard that you only got permission to use the Vireo picture today at roughly 11am when you were talking to Alan Hannington while he was watching the Scilly Gyr and he passed the phone over to Ren. This was the first time that Ren has spoken to you. If you knew Ren was the photographer how come the image is credited as photographer unknown. It is a well known image having appeared in the bird report and British Birds. Basically this image has been on your site for at least several months without the photographers' permission. Just admit that rather than digging yourself into a bigger hole. I withdraw my previous apology.

Bloody Hell, who the **** are you, the photograph police! Thanks for checking up with Ren! Are you my Dad! I didnt actually state in my previous thread when i got permission from Ren. When you pointed it out, i phoned Alan Hanningtomfor Rens number. Fortunately Ren was with him and was more than happy for me to use the photo. That was just after 10am.
Tha photgraph was one of the first that was put on the site. Until recently i didnt have all the bird reports and i dont take British Birds mag.
I havent dug a hole and i certainly dont have to answer to you, 'Paul'. whoever you are? Whats your second name, Parker or Pay.

No sign of the Hawfinch at Ninestones this afternoon but a Swallow and 30 Sand Martins at Siblyback Res. A Swallow was also at the Amble Marshes this morning.

Would love to see this one but they have a track record of more often than not being one dayers.

1 Swallow in off the sea at Pendennis, Falmouth today and went north. 1 Great Crested Grebe on Swanpool.
Thanks. Henerz.

Any sign of the Grot Splottered Cooker today. Hope birders are checking the Lans Bend and St Juiced areas. It might have left for Silly, Kynance Island over there is good habitat.

You really are a flucking clock aren't you Paul. If you are going to continue with your irrelevant anonymous drivell can you do it somewhere else. You really are making a fool of yourself.

Anyway back to birds in Cornwall, the Snowy Owl was at Sperris Quoit again yesterday morning and Cattle Egrets were again on the estuary. Spring migrants seem to have slowed down with the change in wind direction?

I see you have no sense of irony, therefore your ignorance and illiteracy must be real. The OED or Oxford English Dictionary is recommended in these situations. By the way I see you are still using uncredited photos.
Ciao
