Corvid-19 Drawing Challenge (1 Viewer)

Being both a birder and an artist, I tend to draw a lot of birds. The other day, I was thinking about what I was going to draw next when I had the idea of challenging myself to draw an entire series. 19 different birds, all corvids (get it?) Anyway, I thought it would be neat to try to commit to going through with the plan, and share my progress as I go.

So far, I've only done the first two, using photo references I found on the internet (Clark's Nutcracker and Steller's Jay.) Watercolor is not my primary medium, so any tips on using it would be greatly appreciated!

If anyone has any suggestions on what I should draw next, I would also like that. Oh, and if you want to try doing this challenge yourself (even if you don't want to do all 19), I'd love to see your creations as well!

Thanks for the suggestion! Kind of messed up the tail a bit, but here's Corvid number 3.

Also, does anyone have any pointers on creating a more realistic sheen on feathers?

Apart from American Crow and the Common Raven, I'm a bit lost as to what else makes up your 19 corvid species. Guess I'd better do some research LOL.

Oh of course there's Blue Jay... can't forget him can I.

Here's Corvid number 4 (Rook) and number 5 (Eurasian Jackdaw).

I've decided I'm going to draw Corvids from all over the world; both to better represent the Corvidae family as a whole, and also to learn a bit myself. However, I've discovered that it's a bit more difficult to get the proportions correct when I'm not super familiar with the species 😅
