Dear members and Bird Watchers!

I spotted 3 shearwaters and I ID the bird as Cory's Shearwater even though I would like to ID the bird as a Cape Verde Shearwater because of the darker head and black around the eyes.

But they were very far away and it might be something from the picture.

Also, no ID question, but is it possible that I spotted small dark birds.

Whale (small) swimming in the surface and two small black birds flying around. Between me and the sun so it was only like a shadow in the reflection from the sun.

Looked to be a third of the size of a sharewater, but it was far away and in the sun and I really do not know. But they were small.

I spotted a third of them further away and 10 minutes later I saw another one.

There are small birds in the Pacific according to my Albatrosses, Petrels ans Shearwaters around the world. Is it possible that I spotted small birds or was I just over enthusiastic?

Kind Regards and Happy Birden!

From what I read, should be Cory's as (for example) has a bright yellow bill
Thank you THE_FERN

I see, it is more yellow than the Cape Verde # 3 compared with #2 in my Albatrosses, Petrels and Sharewaters of the world book.

I thought the head and ears were darker and that is why I was thinking about the Cape Verde.

The sea birds are very hard to ID and a picture is a must for me. But now I know about the yellow bill, thanks for that.

Highly appreciated

Kind Regards and Happy Birding
