I can completely understand people ticking heard-only Quails and Corncrakes for the reasons mentioned. Not sure about the Hume's YBW though, I wouldn't have counted that. I remember 'hearing' Red-necked Nightjar in Spain which turned out to be another group of birders using playback. The only bird I've currently heard but not seen in Britain is (for 12 years now) River Warbler.</p></blockquote><p></p>
