County listing (1 Viewer)

Fatbirder has the totals for each county on their pages.

As far as I am aware Bucks is still the lowest ranking county in England.

Fatbirder though is a bit behind though with some of there data for example Hertfordshire it quotes as 299 but it isnearer to 307

Cornwall's is about 424 but this has a few species pending and has no records prior to 1950, according to http://www.cornwall-birding.co.uk/the-cornwall-species-list/. However there are 412 species according to http://www.cbwps.org.uk/County list.htm

As usual the Cornwall Birding list has no official basis and is pure speculation. At a recent rarities commitee meeting all contentious records were reviewed including historical records and I believe we came up with a grand total of 433 birds, plus a Frigatebird sp. and an indeterminate caligata/rama. We have several Madeiran Petrels, Yelkouan Shearwaters, Taiga Flycatcher, Alder Flycatcher and House Finch still waiting verification by BBRC/BOU. I assume that the recorder will update the website shortly.
Hope this helps.

Not checked all counties, but according to Fatbirder Herefordshire is on 251 vs Buckinghamshire with 280 although I guess there may be a handful of additional species for each county since those figures were compiled.

The Kent list is 415 according to the KOS website
Ian

If/When accepted the Blackpoll Warbler will be the 416th. None of the top 12 Kent listers (362 and above) connected but County recorder Barry Wright edged closer, it being his 361st Kent species.

I'm way down the list at a paltry 340, =48th

Just had this thread drawn to my attention - so I've updated all the lists I have in line with this thread so far... I'm always happy to update anything drawn to my attention but with over 2000 pages and over 30,000 links, and only me to do it as ONE of my tasks, I simply do not have as much time as I would like to trawl for updates. So if any of you, at any time, see stuff on Fatbirder that you know is out of date and you have an update let me know - any county number not mentioned so far, a county bird I don't have, up to date county recorder or anything else.

I've just spent three months adding google map links to all the 'top sites' and reserves featured on all county and country pages as well as ask all country correspondents for updates.

Fatbirder is, essentially, a collaborative effort by birders all over the world to create a unique info resource so let me know if you see something missing or in need of a change - my email address is on the site - don't just bring it up here I don't have time to join in much.

Incidentally - congratulations to the Bird Forum going to number on on my Top Birding 1000!

So Christchurch Harbour has a bigger list than 8 of those counties! Can we have it back please?
