19 waxers seen today over my house in Seafield lawns today and seen in Blakley Close

15 in the tallest tree, 20m from last roundabout on Tom Bellew Avenue, at 2.30pm today. Probably the same ones you had Gerry?
From what I have seen of them this winter, they seem to become much more mobile for about 2 days before they disappear to a new location.
It will be interesting to see therefore if the depart the Tom Bellew Avenue location (where they have been for the past 10 days or so) over the coming days.

That is Balmers bog ,you can get into it by turning right before you come to the hospital coming from dundalk.Once had reed warbler seen at this site.

The CC refused planning for housing and a duckpond on the area but it is currently being appealed to ABP - I doubt it will get through because the bog is very very prone to flooding...but speaking of reed warblers, given what is happening elsewhere along the east coast both north and south, surely we must have a breeding pair somewhere?

Good numbers of gulls, auks, great northern divers and red throated divers in with the weather today. No sign of the iceland.

Put all my american photos up here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/breffni/
maybe one of these will pay us a visit?

Amazing collection .......... and some of the scenes around Cooley Carlingford etc are just stunning. You should market a calendar for next year because boy would it sell.

You're very kind - unfortunately there are a lot of people out here with real cameras ie SLRs, mine is basically a compact with a few bells and whistles. For decent print quality you need an SLR with a long lens (starting price 2000+ euros).

Visited a site in Kilsarin today where I found a flock of at least 12 yellowhammers, 20 tree sparrows, at least one brambling and hundreds of other finches...nice spot!

Its amazing how quickly things change even in the garden. I have been watching the same birds for the last few weeks and this morning I had a flock of 20 Lesser Redpoll feeeding on some grain on the driveway (the best count this winter was up to 4 birds) I went in to make a cup of tea and sit by the window when this super male Brambling made an appeance for about an hour. These shots were the best I could do before the weather turned.

Well you sure are making the best of your camera and talent. Has anyone else noticed not many robins this year or maybe too early to see them. I have seven goldfinches daily now but my cousin has 15 in his garden in the country little further out so that was end of that conversation...... I saw loads of Dunnocks and Jenny Wrens in hedgrows in woods nearby (Dunnocks here daily but Wrens mostly nextdoor in her nut tree) and black headed Bullfinch again on edge of woods. I have a fabulous big Mistle Thrush drinking water on drain on top of garage often. I heard it singing at top of tree yesterday in wind and rain and then the unmistakeable loud rattle noise as I disturbed it trying to get picture. I now know why they call it the Stormcock.

Definate twittering early this morning with linnets, wren, song thrush and robins going...

On saturday a peregrine was seen at lurgangreen (haven't seen one in ages), and a hen harrier at cruisetown. On sunday someone had the dowitcher at the docks again...
