Croatia in October (1 Viewer)

Hello,

I'm travelling to Croatia in mid-October for 2 weeks.

It's not a country I've travelled to before, so I'm looking for suggestions of must-visit locations for birding in Croatia at that time of year? The key criteria would be quite accessible by public transport and likely to see a wide range of species.

Beyond booking flights to Zagreb I've not yet booked accommodation or planned my itinerary.

Thanks in advance for any tips!

In the Zagreb area, you have the Maksimir Park (6 species of Woodpeckers, both species of Treecreepers in the winter, loads of passerines, but it is october after all, it might be a bit demanding to find a great variety of species). Also, Blato Retention and Savica ornithological reserve might have some nice species.

Nin saltpans at the coast, you can get there with a public transportation, Vransko lake Nature park as well.
