Curio Whoopsie! (1 Viewer)

Did we talk about Pur models and their problems with the casing or was the core of the topic the Curio?

As I see it, I would of course evaluate the latter and the former differently. My statement is related to a context and my statement applies to that context. Scratches in a casing without protection are a different issue than protection that has defects that cannot be attributed to external influences.

These are two completely different topics and my statement should only be viewed in relation to one.

no problem, very happy
I was wondering if you would bring te same arguments on that topic.

Its a comparison.

Its a comparison. We talked about how important scratches or other problems on the outside/ looks are.
I think many people do care.

But o.k. i understand what you are trying to say.

Do have the black one or burned orange?

I generally carry the Curios in a coat pocket or trouser pocket. In use I just hold them in my hand, I have a wrist loop for security. If I need to use my hands I will just let the binoculars dangle from my wrist.

I haven't noticed any damage from carrying in a pocket. I find there are occasions where I just want to have a binocular hanging round my neck. If you are going to just carry binoculars the binoculars around your neck then the Curios offer no benefit.
Mono,

Not to put too fine a point on it (and with a healthy dose of rationalization to boot) but my experience differs w/r/t your last point. I carry the VP on a RYO harness but use the OEM strap to carry the Curio around my neck.

Regardless of carry method, the benefits of the Curio for me include the 3 mm EP in a 20/21 mm, the much wider FOV than other 20/21 models , greater DOF, and the more "natural" image of 7x versus 8x magnification. Not everyone gets along with 7x and I can understand why.

Same here. I've just compared them again with my 8x20 Ultravid & Trinovid and the conclusion is the same: I prefer the Leica mechanically but I need to align them very precisely to get the best of them and even so, I get a "tunnel vision".
The Curios fall into place naturally: as soon as I put them in front of my eyes, I have a nice, wide and "full" image.
The VP 8x25 was the same, i.e. excellent but far less pocketable for me as I always have at least a small camera with me on top of binoculars. And the focuser falling off after a year of low use shattered my confidence.

BTW I've never noticed something I do not see at 7x but would at 8x, especially with pocketable binoculars.

The Curio absolutely rules when it comes to ease of use coupled to compactness and quality of image. Victory Pocket is an absolute killer package, but the Curio arguably brings the same qualities in an actual compact package that fit into any pocket capable of holding any kind of binocular, while the Zeiss requires much, much larger pockets. A friend was experimenting with trying the Zeiss vs. the 10x25 Ultravid for fitting into his coat pocket the other day and while the Leica slipped easily in and out, the Zeiss gave him so much trouble due to its bulk that he ended up laughing hysterically.
Just you wait: you'll be leaving the 8*25 at home after a while. 😁
Lately I've been using an 8x25 Victory Pocket a lot, more than anything else, and as wonderful a binocular it is, still much too large for me to want to carry all the time, leaving my pocket Ultravids as my ultimate favorites.

I understand the Curio is a better pocket size binocular. Thats why i consider it for buying.

The VP i think it just a better overall binoculair. I hardly use it in my pocket. I use the original case. It fits perfectly in my small backpack when i go hiking. When i start i hang it around my neck and can use it all day long. It uses like a 8x30/ 32. But never feel the weight.

For this kind of use i thing nothing can beat the VP 8x25.

For smaller walks around the park i believe the Curio is better. I can fit better in pockets
