Customizable vernacular names in listing software (e.g. Scythebill)? (1 Viewer)

Following the recent kerfuffle involving the "updated" German vernacular names of Western Palearctic birds (and their adoption by IOC version 9.2), I was left wondering whether it would be possible to implement an option to manually edit specific common names in lists (I currently use Scythebill, with IOC) to match older versions.
Failing that, is there a way I can edit the files myself, or create a revised list? I'm afraid my programming skills are very limited, so I'd appreciate any help.

Possible, yes... but I'm hard-pressed to imagine this being a widely used feature, and every added feature makes it harder to support.

(At any rate, I think a higher priority for German users is getting the application itself translated into German - I finally got a Spanish translation in earlier this year.)

I once offered to help you with translations via Facebook, not sure if you got the message. PM me, if you're interested
