Today I was at Whiteford Point nature reserve on the North Gower. Saw many examples of responsible owners. One couple were about 20 feet off the track with 2 Malmutes and a Border Collie on their leads. Obviously I said hello and they answered my puzzled look by saying I'd be filthy if they let them off near me. I did laugh saying I used to be used to it as I previously had a dog. They were taking into account that not everybody likes dogs and others who like dogs do not like being jumped all over. Later at the beach I had a very pleasant 20 minutes watching GND, Brents etc. With another birder who had two Border Collies. Neither on the lead. Both immaculately behaved. I did make the mistake of throwing a stick for them which led this being expected of me all the time:-O. Throughout what is a c5-6 mile walk I saw one piece of dog sh*t to the side of a track through the woods and no baubles. To counter this, and anyone who has been to Kenfig Pool will know this, I spend the first 20 minutes or so of any walk there looking down. There is dog sh*t everywhere! Annoying doesn't begin to cover it. And this is one of my recent tweets: "Big thanks to the fwit who allowed their dog to sh*t on my drive this morning. My son stepped in it before getting into my car #nobhead" I absolutely blamed the owner and not the dog. There's good and bad in everything. Nobody condones the needles killing of livestock, or disruption of breeding birds but, it's the irresponsible owners (whom the OP is annoyed with as are we all) who need correction. And, as Peter mentioned, not punishing the many responsible dog owners out there. I do think there is a place for licenses though. Rich
