Long time since I've been to Alnwick, Gill...desperately trying to remember the name of the place we stayed at.... I think that snow should be banned from being deeper than what you have there... a sprinkling is enough to make it look good!

Brrrrr!!!

-6.8c at 6.30am this morning, temp dropped to -7c at daybreak!

The birdbaths took some defrosting this morning! The birds had a better breakfast than me this morning.lol! Soaked sultanas, crumbled scones, sunflower hearts, mixed seed, soaked mealworms, suet pellets, crumbled fatballs, with more pears and apples spiked on the trees! I only had Shredded wheat!:-O

Very cold and icy here, but beautiful blue skies. Walked along the river into Chelmsford this morning, was really icy cold out on the floodmeadow but loads of birds - saw my first ever Snipe, quite a few Little Grebes, lots of Stonechats and Meadow Pipits, a Grey Heron, Blackheaded Gulls and a Common Gull, a Great Spotted Woodpecker and a group of Goosanders! Really good to see those back again, I'd hoped they might return after coming here last Christmas! :t:

I took some photos out there, but was not easy with fingers almost frozen solid! I also tried to take a photo of the Goosanders but having just a little compact with a short lens to hand I couldn't manage much and had to use the yukky digital zoom... you can kinda see they're Goosanders though.

Piccies from this afternoon.....not a lot of snow as you can see :smoke:

Just watching the castle on the telly at the moment... it's on the Hairy Bakers Christmas prog. I recorded on Wednesday. |=)|

Ooooh it's snowing up here now o:)

It was frosty with clear skies first thing but by 2.30pm it was more like dusk as it got darker and darker!!! And then by 3.10pm the snow was falling heavily and it's only just eased off now. Shame it was dark when I finished at 5pm as I would have loved to get out and take some snowy photos :king:

I'll be out at first light tomorrow :t: Might get some piccies of the goosander we've had this past week on the River Aln in front of the Castle :t: I've just got a basic digital camera though so it'll be interesting to see how good (or not! LOL) I can zoom in on them ;)

GORGEOUS pics Paul - just love that third one....got a weakness for watery habitats :king:

Thanks Gill and Pam and Kits (forgot to say that in the post above!). I like watery places too Gill. Hope you manage to get some pics of the Goosander ok. :t:

Lovely photo's, Fozzy. Particularly 1 & 4 & the Goosanders.

We had some snow in Cornwall, it layed for a while, but then turned to rain & all melted. Just as well, else we might not have got home.

We have a very light sprinkling of the white stuff this morning but it is on top of frozen rain, not a nice combination. Birds are very hungry this morning and I've just remembered that I haven't defrosted the water.....

HI Very cold indeed here, snow now falling and sticking, Birds are eating everything and anything, no more being fussy.

More snow overnight. Clear blue skies and sun. All looks beautiful. I imagine it is fairly treacherous out there as it was icy before the latest snowfall.

It's a stunningly gorgeous day outside :t: Clear blue skies, bright sunshine and the air is just the right temperature of coldness to make you feel ALIVE!!! o:)

Just off out in a mo to have a walk in Hulne Park with my binoculars and my camera :king:

Cold and very, very slippery out there today! There's pretty much no wind at all though so walking across the flood meadow earlier was much more enjoyable - rather misty out on the meadow too, which was very atmospheric!

The Goosanders are gathering still... there were at least 15 on the river this morning! Also saw three Redwings near Moulsham Mill, making it feel very wintry.

Snow!

Blizzard here at the moment. I have never seen such huge flakes - bigger than a £2 coin! :eek!:
