Chilly & freezing this morning, raining & thawing this afternoon. If it freezes tonight the roads will be skating rinks tomorrow.

Blimey Kits, sounds like you've got quite a fall going on. We've got rain here, just in time for the overnight freeze... I won't be going far on the footpaths tomorrow!

After a dry but grey morning, we now have wet snow falling but not settling. If the temperature drops tonight, it will be very icy everywhere in the morning.

...on our way to Spring now!:D:D:D:D

It felt it this morning as I walked to work - I heard a Blue Tit singing!!!
:eek!: Perhaps he was just practising ;)

It's been a bit of a non-event today.....little bit of sun, very light breeze....weather wasn't really doing much :-O Supposed to get very cold tonight though so I imagine it'll be icy tomorrow morning.

Apparently we had a wee blizzard last night at 11pm and again at 4am (I was asleep both times) but the snow was about an inch or two deep in places as I walked to work. Pretty nippy on my hands - one customer said his car reading was -1 :eek!: It certainly doesn't FEEL that cold......more of a lovely fresh day with blue skies and bright sunshine :t: I wish I could get out for a walk but got a hairdressers appointment at 2.15pm and it'll be dark by the time I get out :smoke:

But never mind....just tomorrow to work and then I'm off for 4 whole bird-filled days o:)

Blue skies and sunshine here but an awful lot of thick snow laying. I have never seen so much in this area before.

VERY cold today according to customers.....it was about -1 ;) Felt a lot colder as Neil went off to work...I was kicking myself because I hadn't stocked up the de-icer and it took ages to thaw the car out :smoke: It's supposed to get down to -7 tonight....so guess who's gonna put an extra duvet on the bed :-O

Blimey sounds pretty bad there in Preston. Hope it gets better for you soon Maurice. |:(|

Nothing like that here although was very cold overnight, clear skies meant a hard frost and all the paths and some of the roads are even more icy than they were as we had a very slight melt yesterday. Walking to the village was an interesting experience earlier, although that was partly due to the ice and partly because we've now got LOADS of Redwings in the neighbourhood! The trees lining the footpath around the corner from my house was teeming with them!

The local shops have sold out of salt, had to use a bit of my Maldon salt on the icy front step instead. :eek!: Really frosty and cold, which is the ideal time for my central heating pump to start packing up. Going to be using my gas fire and immersion heater for a bit I think, not going to pay the huge surcharge for emergency call-out, got a guy booked to come and service/repair the system at the start of Jan. The fire is a bit temperamental to light, think I need some long matches but should be ok as long as the weather doesn't get colder than it is now!

We have had different weather today, except snow, in the space of a few hours. Rain on top of ice, which hasn't melted under it, sleet & hail, now it's raining again.

Frosty and icy to start but now we've had about half an hour of sleet followed by rain. Heaven help us if it freezes again this evening.

Birds are very busy, but the blackies and robins are still being very territorial and using up so much energy in the process!

Typical of a central heating boiler to pack up now! We had a similar thing about two weeks before we moved house!

Keep warm and safe everyone.;)

Oh no Paul. Hope you stay warm.

-4.5°c here. OH's car had to be dug off the drive. Our village seems to have more snow than even the next one! The roads aren't as bad as I expected, and they have even gritted the pavements. Maybe being the main story on the National News has spurred the council into action! :D

Should be ok Kits, got the fire going and am sitting in front of it warming my toes while I watch Victorian Farm on the telly. Not exactly warm in the house but not freezing... I'm not 'too' bothered by the cold anyway and I've got plenty of padding to keep me warm. ;)

A few hot water bottles around your person should warm you up, Paul! Sorry to hear about your Central heating!
