Pretty cold in Alnwick today.

It was fairly calm for most of the day until about 3pm when our shop had a power cut! It lasted about twenty minutes and after that it just went crazy!!! Hundreds of customers just piled in and my poor head was spinning :eek!: Didn't get cashed up and out of the shop until after 6pm but *relaxed sigh* I am now off work for 4 whole days :t:

Just need to get either a turkey crown or a joint of topside for Christmas lunch and I'm all done......thinking about popping out in a mo in the hope that the shops will be quieter than during the day ;) I certainly DON'T fancy shopping tomorrow :eek!: My plans are to head down to Druridge or Newton Pools and spend a few hours outdoors watching birds and wildlife! ;) :king:

He does have a lovely smile, Wendy. LOL

Daughter & I were going to Tesco at 9 p.m., but our road is like an ice rink, as is Daughters, so we will go tomorrow during daylight instead.
Thanks, David! LOL

We had a storm here earlier on with heavy rain which turned to ice as it hit the ground, and thunder and lightning. Still an awful lot of snow laying.

Started off with a brilliant, but cold, sun filled day with clear blue skies. Turned to rain as it got dark. As I look outside now, the snow is looking very grey, mucky, and feeling sorry for itself. Got a couple of fantastic (NOT!!) days of brown slush to look forward to.

More rain overnight and the ground is still frozen. No doubt some of the minor roads are still icy, but I don't have to go out!

Birds are a bit later waking up today!

Grrr! I broke the ice on my terracotta bird bath and it shattered. Too late to put a new one on my Christmas present list. The metal one is holding up nicely though.

It snowed for around 2 hours last night although it must have turned into rain or sleet as some of the snow has now gone. Doesn't seem so cold out there this morning.

The temperature is above freezing for the first time in more than a week! Yay! There is still plenty of snow, but it does seem to thawing slughtly. Pale blue sky and a very weak sun just now.

Watch you don't get sunstroke then Pam ;)

The sky looked 'full' this morning at 9am but it was only a brief rain shower which soon passed to leave a sunny day. Yet according to Radio Newcastle there was fairly heavy snow further down towards Newcastle, just 30-odd miles away! Supposed to be heavy around West Moor which, I think, is just down from where Brian lives.....are you snowed in pet? ;)
Clear skies now so a frosty night I'll bet.....Neil has got umpteen layers on :-O

I never got around to food shopping last night.....I was SO mentally shattered after work I just chilled out in front of the tv with a few comedies, a Monty Roberts demo on Horse & Country then read my book until 10pm and went to bed :t:
Did the shopping first thing this morning (well, 9.30-ish) and sticking to a list had it all done in less than 15 minutes! Morrisons was relatively quiet and I got straight through a till :t: Then went to the garden centre to get some houseplant compost and bigger pots as some of my plants are looking a touch pot-bound and then had a nice walk along the Pastures. A few Teal, Tufties & Mallard around but otherwise quiet - no sign of the Goosanders.

Quiet night in tonight as Neil is on nightshift and tomorrow I'll get out birding for a few hours as I always like to do on 25th :king: I often don't see a single person all day and it's sheer bliss.....helps me completely unwind :t:

Christmas Day was bright and sunny all day with barely a cloud in the sky until dusk. We had a heavy frost too so it was a bit of a 'white christmas' :king:

Today we have had an overnight fall of fresh snow of a couple of inches :t: Clouds still look very full though so we may get some more :king:

Christmas Day was sunny with snow still on the ground.

Boxing Day was sunshine and two brief rain showers.

Today we have blue skies and sunshine. Snow still in the back garden, but the front is now clear.

It is sunny with blue skies at the moment.

Not to say it is cold - not been out yet LOL

The wind howling last night sounded errie :eek!:

Apparently there was a little bit of rain overnight and when Neil came home the roads were VERY icy and he could barely see with the thick fog :eek!:

Grey and overcast now but looking pretty calm outside :king:
