Anybody know more about the Bittern reported last night?
I'm wondering if the Bittern report is erroneous....is that spelt right? Everyone I spoke to today didn't know anything about it. Maybe the record refers to the Willington bird?
Carsington continues to produce the goods...good views of Ring billed Gull at 15:45 when MAP picked it up on the spit. It then landed infront of Sheepwash hide, before flying towards us, giving excellent flight views.
Also present, and not all seen by me,were 8 Pintail,Common Scoter, Garganey,Scaup,2 Shoveler, 3 RC Pochard, Madarin,GN Diver,YL Gull,Dunlin plus all the usual stuff. With the water levels so low, and plenty of shore, what chance some more good birds soon?
Good stuff, Clive. Do you know where the Garganey was seen? I should be up tomorrow and I've still not come across it.
superb stuff everyone, gutted i didnt know about the black red, that would be awesome. Is it still present?
can someone fill me in on the bittern record, ive only just seen it on here and a little confused.
Mark had it at the Wildlife centre, but it does frequent the bank behind the dead tree at Sheepwash.
Good day at Carsington today - Great Northern Diver and Yellow-legged Gull were lifers, and finally ticked Barnacle Goose (I didn't want to do Cat C's, but I could be waiting forever for genuine Cat A birds in my neck of the woods...). Other highlights included Willow Tit, Buzzard, Pintail, Shoveler etc. - missed out on the Scaup and the Ring-billed Gull never materialised, but a cracking day. I'll definitely be going again.
Hi Pete, glad you had a good day at Carsi. I wonder if it was you sitting next to me when I pointed out the Yellow-legged Gull flying in front of Sheepwash hide and then landing on the water?
Yup that was me, cheers for the head up! Did you have any joy with the ring-billed?
