Not everyone who is interested in birds is also familiar with the fossil record of birds. But to understand the bird evolution, taxonomy and distribution, you need to know about the fossil record. DNA research is very helpfull, but it needs to be confirmed by the fossil record.
In this thread I will try to point you to the original descriptions to every fossil bird that is known to me.
Unfortunately, I don't have every description, or not a link to the Original description, and there you can, of course, help me.
It is not easy to decide where to start, it is hard to define what is a bird, what is a dinosaur, even scientists don't agree. So I will start with Avialae.
