[QUOTE="mikfoz, post: 1433865, member: 72221"] I have total sympathy with people who want to see the Parakeets gone and I'd wave an available magic wand without hesitation. It's not going to happen, though, and judging by their fecundity if we missed one pair alone in an energetic and efficient cull we'd be back to square one in 5 years anyway. These things are rife all over Europe now and I reckon the genie is very much out of the bottle. Judging by how much of our wildlife is introduced anyway the whole issue becomes very murky indeed. Do we reintroduce bears and wolves? Do we utterly exterminate rabbits? Of course not! I totally agree that the "fluffy factor" comes in when culls are proposed, but once again we've waited far too long to respond. They're now so entrenched that no matter what bounty were put on them and if the whole nation actively hunted them I doubt we'd be any more successful than we are with rats - we'd just select for sneaky Parakeets.
