Devon Birding (1 Viewer)

Hello all - second ever post on this forum!

I live in North Devon just outside Torrington & have a garden packed with birds & yesterday I discovered we have a pair of white throats in the hedgerow! I've been trying to get a photo but they're so full of the joys of Spring it's difficult!
Welcome Emyjane - I live near to you at Barnstaple (if you see someone with a big white lens on the tarka trail between Barnstaple and Bideford that will be me)
I do not find Whitethroats the easiest to shoot, like you say they are always on the move.

Went for a short walk down the Tarka trail today by the Meeth Clay works & heard black cap, chiff chaff, willow warbler, coal tit, long tailed tit & a buzzard!

The AGP was showing well at Exminster Marshes this afternoon. Three Hobbies also noted on the pylons.

Cracking new set of scrapes the AGP is settled on so they are working already. Kudos to the RSPB for that.

No sign of any Wood Sandpipers? There was supposedly one on a small pool to the right of the main lagoon whilst I was there on Monday, but it is hard to see the pool from the path as it is pretty much obscured by reeds. I've dipped that bl00dy plover twice and both times it has been refound later in the day. What's the betting it'll push off before Saturday? :smoke:

If its any help the Wood Sand was on the same pool as the American Goldie on Monday evening and showing very well, don't think it was reported today though..

The Woodchat Shrike still showing well today at Wembury Point on the bank of bushes in front of the stand of pine trees and visible from the coastal footpath.

On an entirely different matter, Lesser Whitethroat seems to have passed me by this spring, so if anyone knows where one is in south or east Devon, if they could let me know that would be great. Any info much appreciated...

There are 2 Lesser Whitethroats showing at Berry Head quite often behind the information centre.

One at South Hallsands on 11th, no more info than that though. I'd try Berry Head and or Start Point.
