Matt struck again this evening with a first summer Bonaparte's Gull on the River Exe, in amongst a flock of around 50 Black Heads. Initially viewable for just 20 minutes from the canal bank at Exminster Marsh, but then relocated, (fortunately just as I arrived) off the viewing platform at the end of Bowling Green lane.

Had a look around Slapton Ley this morning optimistically hoping for a Red-footed Falcon. No luck but a nice Hobby behind Ireland Bay.

What you looking at?
Am I the only one who's surprised at how open the information services are being about these Red-backed Shrikes. Three males turning up like this in pukka breeding habbo....I bet there's a girl or two up there too somewhere! Are they singing at all?

My thoughts exactly.
Are they definitely all males? 1 up there is an event in itself, but 3 in the same place? If anything was to happen, I hope they wouldn't be disturbed, that's one of the most walked paths in Dartmoor during the summer months...

I doubt the information services will report a female up there, with the males present.

Edit. Just had a quick look through Google, I can't see any reports in the public domain that indicate a female would be present, definitely not in the information services at any rate.

No sign of the Spoonbill this morning at South Huish Marsh. Cattle Egret still present though, and found another bird at nearby Thurlestone Marsh. Not much else around. A handful of Swifts and a few Sand Martins over South Huish. 4 Rock Pipits on the beach.
