Hey all
Im a bird lover, I currently own 3, one who is a very young budgie I got last week. Ive spent the week giving him meds as he has AGY, so needless to say my week has invovled caring for birds.
Anyway on to the real topic. About 2-3 weeks ago I noticed a bird hanging around a small potted tree right next to the door at my work, and after a few days I found a nest with a few babies. I tried to leave them be but would take a quick peek a few times a week when I could as it was in fairly plain view.
The last week and a half I didnt see the parents at all but the birds appeared to have grown into fledglings so I assumes they were growing well. Today I looked at the nest. One was missing, one was dead in the nest and one was still alive. The smell of the body was apparent. I called a wildlife rescue and told them of the situation and they said it was okay to bring the bird in. I put him in a nesting box and drove him up.
Im curious what may have happened and if I did the right thing here. My fears were the nest may have been abandonded but im unsure. It appeared he pooped in the box so he must have eaten something? My hopes are I gave this bird a chance to survive. Im curious if anyone has insight for this situation.
