When I have had the chance to compare several units of the same high-quality binocular model, I have sometimes seen units that show much more pronounced "spiking" along the prism roof line, and also units that show (sometimes much) less than the average specimen. Similar differences in how pronounced the spiking would be have been visible also in non-phase-coated roof prism binoculars, so I don't think it is (just) a result of differences in the quality of the phase coating.What remains relevant whichever is the main cause of the spiking, though, is that less spiking means a better image.Kimmo</blockquote>
