Hello,
This was fished out of a friend's pool this am. I've looked around a bit and can only find the Great Diving Beetle but this is different - it was around 30mm. Any ideas?

Many thanks

Hello Jen :hi:

There are several 'Dytiscid' species, but I'm no beetle expert. I'm not even certain these species can be determined from a photograph alone. D.marginalis isn't the largest of the British Diving Beetles, despite it's common English name.
