I first started asking myself the question when looking at the flock of chaffinchs that descend on my garden in the winter in which most of the birds are female and then started noticing it in other species of birds as well. I had not considered that there were differences in migration and dispersal patternes for different genders of birds. The biological reasons suggested by Acrophelus are all totally logical when you think about it. Thank you!
