Hi,

I saw this bedraggled raptor last week, am I right in thinking Black Kite? both photos are of the same bird.

Yes, I agree with you: its a Black Kite. Please note:
  • paler greyish head with some streaking set of by the darker body. A simlar contrasting head is a feature of both Kites
  • dark mask around/behind the eye
  • it is a dark bird, excluding Red Kite (which is a lankier bird overall)
