Been subscribed for a couple of years and it works fine for me. Maybe try unsubscribing and then subscribing again.

Paul.

Cheers Paul I'll try it.

This mornings update had; my question repeated twice, your above reply once, your fieldfare post twice, poole parrots baiter post 4 times, then the shore road one once. Most odd. :h?:

Still no Dorset waxwings of note around?

The only Waxwing I know about are the 30 strong group that are back at Lytchett Matravers.

Wyke Down

Not many birds around in the snowy conditions this morning although the Great Grey Shrike was there but it was distant.

CR Avocet

I had the information back today about the colour ringed Avocet from Holes Bay on Monday. It was ringed as a Pullis in Orfordness Suffolk on 21/05/11, it was reported from Holes Bay on 05/02/12 and summered back in Suffolk. So it has now returned for its second winter in Holes Bay.

Canaries forever... and i'm not always scary, some
Longham lakes today

Happened to be on site when George Green found the three bean geese. Great tick. Wondered why he was waving madly at me. Not usually so pleased to see me.

Photo digiscoped with my phone. They were about half a mile away!

Holes Bay/Hatch Pond

A quick visit to Holes Bay on an extremely high tide this morning, a couple of drake Goldeneye with 4 female and the Common Sandpiper were the most notable sightings.

At Hatch Pond a Grey Heron flew over the far side of the lake and as it landed it put up a Bittern which then did a lap of the lake and landed in the reeds near the inflow area at the top of the lake.

Wyke Down

No sign of any Owls as the rain started to come down, a bonus with a couple of Marsh Tit in the trees that run along the Ackling Dyke.

Hi guys , how do I subscribe to this thread? I keep missing all the good bird sightings I went to upton country park yesterday looking for the black redstart with no luck. Looked for the lesser spotted woodpecker at the same place last year with no luck either. Lol

The Black Redstart was still in the Upton CP Car park at lunchtime today, it favoured the green in the middle of the Car park.

Did not see the the wing pattern as did not see said bird fly! Checked out Sibley and Collins and googled 1st winter photos of euro oystercatcher and still came back feeling strong about what i saw. Eye ring colour something to check out,but as i said brown Oystercatcher with black head is very American!

Kevin Lane and Paul Morton have both seen what they suspect is the same bird at Baiter, but sadly it seems to be an aberrant European Oystercatcher, perhaps with retained juvenile plumage.
Shame.
There is a picture of the bird, but it's not mine to post. If anyone was interested I could forward the email to them. PM me with your email address

Does anyone know whereabouts at West Bexington I should be looking for the Snow Bunting? Hoping to get down there either tomorrow or the very beginning of next week.

Thanks.

No sign of it this afternoon, but it was very blustery.

Saw two individuals, possibly guillemots, that I now realise were two of the many contaminated with a waxy/gluey like substance being reported along the Chesil area today. Will post photos later.

Pics very zoomed and cropped, so not good, but can just see the greeny substance on the breast.

It's only Rock and Roller but I like it
Any more news about the Common Rosefinch at Broadstone - its been described as possible/probable for a few days now. Or is it more likely to be a Redpoll?

From the pictures I've seen it looks like a rosefinch. Certainly not a redpoll. I haven't heard of an public access arrangements. Perhaps if it becomes more settled there will be.
