Canaries forever... and i'm not always scary, some
Longham lakes

My Longham Lakes patch year list stands at 65 after 2 new birds today - bullfinch and treecreeper.
Aiming for 100, which i think is quite possible.

Chris

PS Eventually caught up with the hoopoe in Turlin Moor. As fabulous as they always are, and just as elusive.

Hoopoe

3rd time lucky with the Hamworthy Hoopoe. Saw it at lunchtime today, stood around the green by the Industrial Estate in Dawkins Road with a couple of other birders for about an hour. No show so went for a little drive and lucked it on a lawn in Carisbrooke Crescent briefly before flying off over houses. 5 minutes later it appeared again on a front lawn 100 yards away in Freshwater Drive. Took a couple hundred pictures and then the infamous birder Lee Evans turned up and added the Hamworthy Hoopoe to his year list. The Hoopoe was then flushed by an inopportune postman. Lee asked about any local Black Redstarts or Dartford Warblers and was on his way. A rather surreal 20 minutes!

The PC World Drain had lots of activity this morning at the Holes Bay End of the drain(the area directly behind Furniture Village). Lots of Chiffchaff, the Common Sandpiper was along the edge and the Kingfisher flew down the channel and appeared to land under the bridge. The Grey Wagtail was also about and there was a group of 3 Goldcrest flitting through the trees. There was also a Black Redstart working along the undergrowth along the drain edge.

Sandbanks

A wild and windy morning on Sandbanks this morning, 1 Purple Sandpiper on the Groyne nearest to the Haven Hotel. Also on this Groyne, Dunlin, Sanderling and Ringed Plover. An interesting tussle between a Juve BBG and an Eel, which after about 5 attempts the BBG finally gave up and the Eel escaped.
