Baiter Again

Slavonian Grebe again off Baiter moving round into Parkstone, it stayed a bit further out today, although the flat seas made viewing easier. Good numbers also of GC Grebes, Goldeneye and RB Mergs and a single Razorbill.

Thanks Poole Pirate - great shot of the gulls to get an idea of scale...

Had a stroll at West Bexington today - the weather has certainly taken its toll.

5 razorbill, 3 guillemot and one black guillemot all dead.

There's a brent on the lagoon though, along with three pochard and 2 gadwall.

First adders of the year were a welcome sight too.

Parkstone Bay/Baiter

Lots of Gull in the roost at first light this morning. At least 2000 on the sports fields at Parkstone Bay. Excellent number of Med Gull with at least 120 present. At Baiter the single Pale-Bellied Brent was still with the Dark-Bellied.

Had a couple of hours at Upton Country Park Sunday and managed to get some pictures with my 400 lens. I saw 4 Buzzards and thought I heard a Raven Kronking and a Woodpecker drumming.
Some of the pictures I took along the path were someone had left some seed on a fence post.

Woody,
They're great pictures. When I first looked at them on my ipad they looked a bit soft focused, but on my imac they are very sharp. Nice work.

Ackling Dyke

Walked the Ackling Dyke at Wyke Down this afternoon. Along the first part of the Dyke there were 5 Corn Bunting, 8 Yellowhammer. A bit further along there were 2 Marsh Tit in a flock of Mixed tits and Goldcrest. Plenty of Red-Legged Partridge in the fields and 1 Grey Partridge. Along the bridle way on the ridge behind Down Farm there was a flock of 22 Corn Bunting , the most I have seen in 1 place.

ps. Marsh Tit photo take at ISO2500 and exp. 1/160 as it was pretty dark under the trees.

Iceland Gull

Found an Iceland Gull in Poole Park yesterday, it hung around about 15 mins , hopefully it will be re-found in the area. The female Goosander is also still on the boating lake. At baiter today there was a Razorbill and a Red Throated Diver fairly close in off the car park.

I had a walk round Badbury Rings on Saturday and found my first Marsh Tit along with Great Spotted Woodpecker, Nuthatch, Treecreeper and others.
Just a record shot, I forgot to change the settings on this shot

Thanks James, I was going on the spotty back which seemed more prominent at the time. However now you say , the white patch at rear and heavier shading on the neck clearly make it a BTD.
