Hi all, sorry if this is in the wrong place!
I have a D7200 and when I transfer my pictures via a cable to my laptop i always have double pictures, even in the DCIM folder in the camera! so I get 2 x 5477 for example.
Any ide why and how to avoid it please.

Do you have the second memory card set to back-up? If so, any images will be duplicated there and presumably be transferred across. When I had a D7200, I used a card reader to transfer my images. That way I could just remove one card from the camera, download the images, then format both cards in camera.

I'm not certain that this is the issue, but it could be worth checking.

What software do you use to download? Or is direct in file explorer? I use the Nikon software to download and in it one can choose which card(s) to download from.

So, looked today and when I connect to my laptop I get 2 DCIM files and the first is always empty and second has all my pictures but twice, so today I deleted the doubles and then when I tried to show then on FB some of the pictures were missing, like I had deleted the originals ????
I am using the nikon disc that came with the camera to upload to my computer ...
Any ideas, if yes please give an idiots guide . thanks

Have you perhaps accidentally set the camera to bracket exposure by taking two shots? I don't know the D7200, but it's easy to do by mistake on the D500 and D850. If this is the problem the two images will have different exposure settings in the exif data.

I have a D7200 and use the Nikon transfer 2 software. (available on Nikon support if it is not on your disc) This allows you to choose which card to choose from and where to send the files into your computer.
