A hide ...now that the way to go....I spent virtually 2 years not in a hide as such but in camo and a screen on a very small stream where I could see only yards around me.I was staking out a local Kingfisher site but managed about 50 species that came to see me.Also Muntjac...Squiggle...Fox...a bizarre sight of what looked like a 10lb + Pike going down stream in about an inch of water at some times....A few non I.D'd vole things ....a Mink...Rabbits and yes DOGS...used to get an Alsation and a Husky thing that would see me (or smell...lol) and dive into the little pool and if I hid they would cry until I said hello to them....crazy.
And all this is in some fields that I used to drive past every day and think were a lifeless waste ground.
Cheers for offering to guide me if I come down your patch.
The Kingfishers on this little stream have not been around this year much due to a fishery in the next field disturbing them and the constant wet weather in the winter messing up the little pools they like to fish in....these things tend to go in cycles I hope and might change back soon and if they are around the district they will show up again.
If I start to get some reliable sightings you could come down and spend some hours waiting for some action.I can see you don't mind your own company.
