Dr Büttner's (invalid) Guinea/n Turaco ssp. (1 Viewer)

Björn Bergenholtz

(former alias "Calalp")
Sweden
While checking up some of the many birds described by Anton Reichenow I came across the following guy, leading to a short question regarding a minor, tiny, teeny-weeny (alt. pernickety) detail, about Richard Büttner, German collector (mostly of Plants, but also of Birds) commemorated in the scientific name/s ...

buettneri / büttneri as in:
• the invalid "Turacus persa büttneri" REICHENOW 1891 (here):
Die nachfolgend beschriebene Sammlung ist dem Botaniker Herrn Dr. Büttner, welchem zur Zeit die Station Bismarckburg im Togolande unterstellt ist, zu verdanken.

In today's Key explained as:
buettneri
Prof. Oscar Alexander Richard Büttner (1858-1927) German botanist, collector in the Congo 1884-1886, and Togoland 1890-1892 (syn. Tauraco persa).

büttneri
Original spelling of eponym buettneri.

However, in a Paper about the (German) botanical exploration of Angola, by Figueiredo et al. (2020*), they write his (full) name (on pp.137–139) as: Oskar Alexander Richard Büttner (1858-1927):
Biographical sketch
Born Brandenburg/Havel, Germany, 28 September 1858 – Died Berlin-Karlshorst, Germany, 11 September 1927. A naturalist and explorer. After graduating from the University of Berlin in 1883 ...

Thus, is/was his First Given name; Oscar, or Oskar ... ?

To me, Oscar seems/might/could be an English version ... or not?

Also note that both English and German Wikipedia (here, resp. here) has his full name as: Oskar Alexander Richard Büttner" (the latter with the additional info; "auch [also] Oscar"), both seemingly trusting Beolens et al. (which I don't), and some other (German) references.

Also compare with IPNI (International Plant Names Index), here:
Büttner, Oscar Alexander Richard (1858-1927)
... versus the Index of Botanists (by the Harvard University Herbaria & Libraries) here:
NameBüttner, Oskar Alexander Richard

Which version to use ... ?

Anyone who have seen a, or any, official record/s?

Björn

PS. Or, maybe I simply keep him as nothing but "Richard Büttner" ...

*Figueiredo, E., G. F. Smith & S. Dressler. 2020 The botanical exploration of Angola by Germans during the 19th and 20th centuries, with biographical sketches and notes on collections and herbaria. Blumea 65 (2): 126–161. (here)

Thanks Paul! (y)

Thus, Oskar it will be (at least in my notes)...

Cheers

Björn

PS. I also note (and sure wonder why) all the other sources (as shown in this thread) writes his Given names in different order ...
