Ducks (2 Viewers)

Over the last few days I have seen more or less large swarms of ducks, ca. one dozen to ca. four dozen animals in size, going south. My current location is south-eastern Austria near the Hungarian border.
a) I never thought of ducks as migrants.
b) Is it not a little early to be moving out? What with climate change making winters here shorter and less severe.

So what am I observing here?

Ah well, never mind.

In other news: the storks have decamped. A couple of houses along there was a pair who reared two storklings this year, and around the middle of the week they finally went south. The whole gang in one fell swoop. By the time the seniors come back next year we might not even be living here anymore, so I wish them well.
