How long have you got? many moons ago I used to run DBC field trips and on one particular Loch Ken venture one regular called a low flying Cessna aeroplane as a Golden Eagle and another called a perched Peregrine which when scoped was actually a sheep feeder. :eek!:

Beat that:gh:

PS At least Ravens are birds Derek;)

i will try to beat that:t:

stringing in the rain

Someone who reports duff gen.

Malcolm.

Talking about stringing the Isabelline Shrike at Whitburn CP that Mr Hugelist found in may 2006. well that was a self find for us too about a minute after PH seen it it flew into the middle of CP that’s went we seen it without knowing that mr hugelist had already spotted it.we were on the seats having a cupper .we did not know what it was at 1st but if no one was there I dare say we would have narrow it down to a shrike of some sort my x3 camera would have got a ½ decent photo maybe? Then say it flew off .then we looked on the web and got Isabelline shrike and posted it on the forum:eek!:..who would have believed it.i know of at lease one on the forum who would have had something to say;)
think we may have been called stringers:-O or worse

Greatham Creek : Looking for the avocet . No joy . Saw pinkies . Quite a few shelduck . Loads of gulls .

Seal Sands : Quite a poor show . Only birds I saw were 4 red breasted mergansers and a few geese.

Saltholme Pools : Couldn't see much .

I would appreciate it if you did not ridicule my sightings on a public forum.

Houghton area Local Patch

The 3 hirundines at Joes / RM's albeit in small no's
Only a single cock Blackcap on territory, Willow Warblers 7, only showing & singing in sheltered spots.
Interesting one today was an incubating Lapwing (with4) only 3 metres away from a public r.o.w with a Jack Snipe flushed as i peered into nest.
A greedy Heron mobbed by male Lapwings untill it was forced to leave.
